Platinum Remodeling and Handyman Services Crew

We are here to serve you!

Platinum Remodeling is a hybrid company that takes the best characteristics from remodeling companies, general contractors, and handymen, and combines them with talented and experienced employees to meet the needs of nearly every residential project.  With over ten years of successful business, we have experience with residential projects of any size – bathrooms, kitchens, additions, windows, and wall patches are all within our expertise.

Our purpose is to create comfort and function for our clients in their homes in a professional manner.  Among our accomplishments, we’ve appeared in Remodeling and Qualified Remodeler magazines, won Angie’s List Super Service Awards every year we have been in business, and have been filmed on the HGTV show Bath Crashers.

Company History

Platinum Remodeling and Handyman Services was founded in February of 2005 by Josh Shonkwiler, when he bought out a local House Doctors handyman franchise that he had helped to start a couple years earlier. When Josh started Platinum, his goal was to blend his family’s background of large construction projects and custom home building with the smaller and more service oriented handyman services that homeowners need on a more frequent basis.

The company has grown quite a bit over the years, but the core types of business and principles remain the same. We have grown to include designers and even a licensed architect, but still offer handyman services to our clients. We pride ourselves on being one of the top 500 largest remodeling companies in the nation, able to complete many jobs and a wide variety of needs for our clients, yet we know our customers by name and their dogs too in most cases! We are very well organized (OCD- some call it!), paperless, and highly trained, with over 200 years of industry experience in-house…just all around good people that want to help you with whatever the problem is that you have with your home, whether it’s a small repair or maybe you have mulch and bushes where you would prefer to have a living room!

TWIN CITIES HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Twin Cities Habitat is a nonprofit committed to building the quality of life, health and prosperity of the 7-county metro region through the production and preservation of home-ownership – because homes and families are the foundation of successful communities.

TREE TRUST

Tree Trust was created in 1976 to address two problems in our communities: the devastation of the urban tree canopy due to Dutch elm disease and the high unemployment and poverty rates for youth and adults at that time. We began combating these issues by hiring unemployed individuals and training them to plant trees and reforest the Twin Cities.

Since then, we have expanded to offer integrated employment training, case management, community forestry and environmental education programs.

Today, our mission is to improve the community environment by investing in people.

THE ALIVENESS PROJECT

The mission of The Aliveness Project is to encourage self-empowerment and provide direct services for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

In 1985, in the early days of the epidemic when The Aliveness Project was founded, there were few services for people with AIDS and no effective treatments. The first members gathered in homes to share a meal and fellowship while they mapped out solutions to their problems.

The Aliveness Project has been an active leader in the HIV community in Minnesota ever since.
What started out as a small group of people gathering to share potluck meals has grown into a membership organization that now serves one out of four Minnesotans living with HIV or AIDS.

Newgate School Car Donation Program

Newgate School Car Donation Program

Newgate is a nonprofit automotive technical school located in the Twin Cities. They offer auto body and auto mechanic training for unemployed or under-employed adults, tuition free, and graduates become certified auto technicians in 12-18 months.

Auto donations are the only source of funds for Newgate School. As part of their training, students refurbish these donated cars and vans to cultivate this new life skill.

Repaired cars are then donated to Newgate’s “Wheels for Women” transportation assistance program. These donated vehicles are provided at no cost to promising single working moms to help them transition to self-sufficiency.
