Kara, Interior Designer/PM

Kara is Platinum Remodeling’s Interior Designer and Project Manager. Kara designs and manages large remodeling projects from start to finish. “I am fond of the complete re-configure jobs,” she says, “I get to utilize my space-planning talents”.

Kara’s love of design started from a young age. As a child, she would go around her neighborhood and draw her neighbor’s houses. In 2001, she moved to California and attended the Design Institute of San Diego where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design.

She went on to work for several design/architecture firms, showrooms, granite fabricators, and cabinet shops. She also worked as an independent contractor in California and Texas, before finally moving back to her home state of Minnesota in 2012, when she began her position at Platinum Remodeling.

Kara loves that her career gives her the opportunity to work on an endless variety of projects for people from all walks of life. “I feel very lucky to enjoy what I do everyday,” says Kara, “and have a fantastic team with Platinum Remodeling to help make our clients’ dreams a reality”.

When it comes to her own personal design aesthetic, Kara is a fan of many kinds of styles; however, she would consider her personal style to be “transitional”. She and Kyle are currently updating their house with a total overhaul of their first floor, installing new windows, and adding a new deck.

Kara lives with her spouse, Kyle, one of Platinum Remodeling’s carpenters. She has two children, Skylar and Jace, and a Shiba Inu named Toby Toshiro.

When Kara isn’t working, she enjoys time at the lake fishing and kayaking, reading, taking hikes and bike rides with her family, and enjoying a great steak (she claims Kyle makes the best).
